NOW IS THE TIME, YOUR HELPER IS RELEASED

"And he said, if the LORD does not help you, from where shall I help you?" (2 kings 6:27, Modern King James Version).

The Bible says that "none shall be alone in his appointed times" (Isaiah 14:31). The picture projected here is that of a military situation in which no soldier fights alone or is isolated in battle. God’s program is that no one should stand alone in their moments of adversity. God never intends that any man should fight life's battles all alone. Indeed, according to the Preacher, "woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he does not have another to help him" (Ecclesiastes 4:10). The issue of having helpers is crucial in life.

Many times, the difference between success and failure, prosperity and poverty, health and sickness is found in the availability or otherwise of committed helpers. The Bible tells us the story of a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years. He was by a healing pool called Bethesda. An angel came to stir that pool once in a while and whoever first jumped into the pool at such a time was healed of whatever disease he had. For thirty-eight years, this impotent man had no helper and he remained an invalid for so long. Hear his lament: "I do not have anyone who will help me. I need somebody who will put me into the pool. When the water starts to move, I try to get in. But someone else always gets in before me’." (John 5:7, Easy English Version).

When you carefully look at his story, you will find that this man's real problem is that all who could have helped him needed help themselves. They were all sick people looking for help. This then becomes clear, that when your helpers are helpless, you are in great trouble. It is a very serious matter when the hands of your helpers are tied. When your helpers are sick, you are the one who is sick indeed. I pray, may God release your helpers and cause them to perform at their optimum in Jesus name.

The context of our Scripture verse for today was a time of acute famine in Israel. It was so bad that some people were killing and eating their own children. The children needed help to feed and be nourished, but those who should feed and nourish them needed food and nourishment themselves. I tell you, it is really a disaster when those who are supposed to help you need the very help you desire of them. A woman who had been outsmarted in the inglorious cannibalism shouted to the king for help. The king's response was like, I can't help because I need help myself. God has to help both of us.

Where does all this leads us? We must also receive the instruction and leading of the Spirit to pray for the divine helpers that God has ordained for us. While it is important to pray for ourselves and ask for help, we should also find time to pray for those whom God has ordained for our appointed times that they may be empowered, enabled and motivated. A lot of such prayers is done by praying in the Holy Ghost.

When helpers are available and empowered, your limitations become inconsequential, your capacity is expanded and your ability is magnified. The result will be that you will produce beyond your means and skills. That is the story of David. David's success was largely due to the availability of a company of well equipped helpers. He first had a group of people around him who needed help themselves. But he did not get to the throne until the equipped helpers showed up. May God liberate your helpers, equip them and prosper them.
