DON’T PUT YOUR TRUST IN MEN - Dr. Segun Oshinaga

“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”
Psalms 146:3
For as long as we look to men for help, we are going to be disappointed over and over again. Princes are men of power who ordinarily should be able to help if we can win their interest. The truth is that men are calculating and want to know what they stand to gain if they help you. If there is nothing to be gained, many will leave you high and dry.
Not only are men calculating; they are also selfish. They are mostly concerned about their own comfort and progress. Most people have no interest whatsoever in your comfort and progress and care less what happens to you. It is only when your interest becomes their interest, your comfort is important to their comfort that you can expect some action, not for your comfort and interest but for their comfort and interest.
“Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:”
Psalms 146:5
‘Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help.’ Powerful! In other words, unhappy is he that has the prince for his help. One of the reasons why God is the only true helper is that He is unchanging. Men are driven by various interests and considerations. They have no control over their own affairs. They can be moved, shaken and overruled. When their circumstances change, their promises no longer carry any force. They may mean well but when they are shaken, their promises are shaken.
God is dependable because He can’t be shaken but shakes all things. Stop trusting your destiny to princes, people and positions. God is able to bring together people, princes and positions to deliver on His promises in your life. Trust Him today!
