THE PERFECT ROUTE TO PROSPERITY

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD" (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Most people I know desire positive changes in life. And God is all for positive changes taking place in our respective lives from day to day. Make no mistake about it: God wants things to change for you from bad to good, from poverty to blessings, from darkness to light, and from unrighteousness to righteousness. However, as today's Scripture points to us, the quality, speed and variety of the change you will experience have a lot to do with your focus. When your focus is on the Lord and His glory, you are set for a continuous change that takes you from one realm of glory to another.

But often times, many of us don't focus on the Lord. Some, for example, focus on their problems. You know they are fixated on their problems because that is what they think and talk about all the time. A focus on your problems will not produce the change you need. Some are experts on analysing problems. By the time they are through with their copious analysis, the problem becomes magnified. If you stay too long around such people or you are of such makeup, the chances are that you will end up not knowing what to do. Yes, it is important to have a correct analysis of a problem, but that must always be done with the specific purpose of finding solutions. When analysis results in paralysis, something must be definitely wrong.

It was Socrates, that Greek philosopher of repute who was quoted as saying, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”. The 'old' is the problem on ground, the 'new' is the solution that must replace the problem. While it is good to know where you are coming from, it is perhaps more important to know where you are going. History is definitely of tremendous importance to human society, but the truth remains that much progress is never made when you keep looking backwards. The ultimate purpose of history is to teach us how to go forward by showing us how those who went before us made progress. History also tells us the limits of their advancements and what limited them so that we may learn to overcome their limitations and surpass achievements.

So for those of us who desire the change that God brings, our focus must be on the Lord and not on anything or anyone else. We must keep beholding the Lord, for it is in doing so that we create room for the Holy Spirit to work out our desired change. We must realize like David that our sentence or vindication can only come from God. We should emulate him and similarly confess, "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness" (Psalms 17:15)
