"And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest" (Exodus 33:14).
The
above words are taken from the conversation between God almighty and
His servant Moses. Here, God promised Moses and the children of Israel
that His presence will go with them as they journeyed to Cannan. Moses
had requested for that presence, having realised that peaceful and
victorious progress in the journey of life is impossible without the
presence of God.
As we journey through this
new year, we also need the presence of God. The presence of God makes a
huge difference in a man's life. Without that divine presence, life
would be empty and could become meaningless. If God is with you, you can
be sure that every aspect of your life will know tremendous
improvement. The presence of God comes with a lot of benefits. In this
particular instance, as it relates to our Scripture verse for today, the
presence of God brings rest. How greatly we all need the rest that God
gives.
Rest comes in different shapes and
dimensions. For example, there are some who have suffered seriously
under the yoke of sicknesses and diseases. Such need the rest that God
gives through His healing power. This year, God's presence will go with
you, bringing healing to your body and health to your life. And then,
there are those who are burdened with all kinds of debts. They have
personal and corporate debts hanging on their neck. The assurance from
the Lord God is that the divine presence will give you rest from every
debt. The God of abundance, the Great Provider, the God who is more than
enough shall bless you with more than enough to change your financial
status from a debtor to a creditor in the name of Jesus Christ.
If
you have been experiencing trouble from one adversary or the other, God
is set to give you rest from your adversaries. Whether it is in your
marriage, your business or your vocation, rest from troubles is what God
is offering to all who would believe. His presence will go with you to
disarm your enemies and deliver to you sure victory in the battles of
life. We know already that when God is with you, no one can stand
against you. When Jehovah is for you, no power can withstand you. If
they come against you in one way, they shall flee in seven ways. All
that are ganging up against you to frustrate you shall be scattered by
the thunder of God.
In conclusion, I want to
encourage you to earnestly covet this promised presence of God. Although
we have the assurance of the Most High that His presence will go with
us in this year's journey, we must also do our part to ensure that we do
not come short of that promise. Your part is to ask in faith for the
presence of God to abide with you. Next is to commit to a lifestyle that
will not grieve that divine presence. Sin will grieve the presence of
God; avoid it like a plague.
