LAYING FOUNDATION FOR A BLESSED GENERATION

"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham" (Matthew 1:1).

Our God is a God of generations. This is why He refers to Himself as "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob" (Exodus 3:6). In a very major sense, God deals with people according to their generations because all generations are forever alive to Him (Matthew 22:32). Generations are important to God because without generational applications, covenants lose a huge chunk of their meaning and relevance.

And because our God is a covenant keeping God, it is needful that He should give regard to generations (Deuteronomy 7:9).

Jesus Christ, the finest and the purest of all humans that has ever walked the earth was about to be introduced. And the Bible starts, not by telling us about His conception and birth, but by telling us that Jesus belonged to a particular generational line. This shows how important generational issues are to God. You, like all humans belong to a definite generation, for no man has merely dropped off from the sky into the world. We can also notice that the generation of Jesus was traced forty-two generations backwards. This shows how deeply generational issues can affect us today.

But the big point of interest here is that you too can lay a solid foundation for a blessed generation today, just like Abraham and David did. How did they do it? Both of them built an enviable generation by walking with the Lord. You too can determine the destiny of your descendants for at least the next forty-two generations just by walking with God. And no matter what has happened in your generational line, please know that you can purify and sanctify your generation by this same process. Abraham's ancestors were idol worshippers (Joshua 24:2), but he turned things around for his descendants simply by walking with God.

The other good news is that you can consolidate that foundation by coming on board the generation of Jesus Christ. When you become born again, you switch over to that same generation of faith where we have Abraham as the father of faith and Jesus Christ as the Author and Finisher of our faith. When you join that generation, old things are made to pass away and all things become new. And not only do all things become new, all things now become controlled and directed by God (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). Once you are listed on Jesus Christ's generational account, you become entitled to the heritage of forgiveness, redemption and blessings that God has attached to that generation.

The plan of God is that the book of the generation of Jesus Christ should not be closed without you. Join yourself to this chariot right now as you get begotten of the Lord by faith in Christ Jesus and change the destiny of your generation forevermore.
