"I have not spoken in secret, in a corner of the land of darkness; I did not call the descendants of Jacob [to a fruitless service], saying, Seek Me for nothing [but I promised them a just reward]. I, the Lord, speak righteousness (the truth--trustworthy, straightforward correspondence between deeds and words); I declare things that are right" (Isaiah 45:19, Amplified).
God never intended that any should seek Him in vain. Religion that is grounded in a true, functional and dynamic relationship with the Lord Jesus is never designed by God to be a worthless experience. Our
worship of Him was never meant to be a fruitless service. Hear the Lord God again, "I did not call you to seek Me for nothing". So then it means that something must be definitely wrong when those who claim to seek God do not have commensurate rewards for their efforts.
Friends, there is a just reward for everyone who seeks God. This is true because by nature, God is a Rewarder of them all that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). God is not a wicked Being. Job 34:10 says,
"far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity". His righteousness, faithfulness and justice automatically generate rewards for those who honestly seek Him.
But God is speaking here to those who are seeking to find Him. It is very important that we make this clarification because it is not everyone who claims to be seeking the Lord that is seeking Him in order to find Him. Some are seeking Him purely as a matter of religious exercise. Their fasting, praying, attendance at worship services and other forms of devotional activities are mere religious exercises that does not have the life of God. Such is the situation with every kind of religion that does not have Jesus Christ at the core of its belief system. Same also for those who are seeking God in ignorance and in sin like the Samaritans, typified by the woman in John chapter four.
But I pray for you, that whatever wants to make vanity of your relationship with God is cursed today, in the mighty name of Jesus. Whatever says you will have nothing to show for being on the Lord's side is destroyed today by the power of the Holy Spirit
