"And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19).
The
love of God for mankind is exceedingly great. It is beyond human
comprehension or description. If we are to search the length or breath
of God's love for us, we will find that it is unsearchable. If we seek
to know the height or depth of it, we will discover that it is
unfathomable. The Bible says that the love of God for us, expressed
through Christ Jesus surpasses knowledge. Oh what passionate love it
is!
My friend, God loves you unconditionally.
That is an absolute statement. Saying that God loves you is to state the
obvious. Yet God would have me tell you this apparent fact again and
again. God's love for you did not develop somewhere along the line. It
is an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). God has loved you from the
beginning, before your life began! Such is the love of God for you that
He made you in His own image and after His likeness (Genesis 1:26-27).
And he has never regretted that.
The account
of creation also makes it clear that everything that God created was
created for man, for the service of the man He loves. The Bible says
that God's action in giving "us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons,
filling our hearts with food and gladness" witness to His superb love
for us (Acts 14:17).
David observed and was greatly awed by God's excellent love for man.
When he considered that all the works of God's hands are made to serve
man and have been placed under his feet, David could not help but
exclaim: "What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man
that you visit him?" (Psalms 8:4).
The one
that beats them all is the supreme demonstration of God's love for you
and me in sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for us that
we may live with Him and in Him. The Bible says that, "For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
This truth continues to resonate throughout generations ever since
Jesus came to the earth as God's sacrificial Lamb. I pray that this
eternal truth will also resonate with you and have a new meaning and
impact on you today.
Because of the love that
God has for you, here are three things that I want you to do. First,
just as it happened with David, let your heart flow forth in high praise
and deep worship to the One who has loved you with an everlasting and
unspeakable love. Secondly, because of the manner in which God loves
you, I want you to have hope. Those whom God loves must be hopeful in
God. If God loves you enough to give you His Son, Jesus, there is
nothing good that you require that He will not give you together with
Jesus (Romans 8:32).
Finally, live for Him. It is, to say the least, a hurtful,
disrespectful and abominable sacrilege when those for whom God has made
so much sacrifice spare no thought for Him.
