We start off with the 4P’s of Recovery, first of which is
praise.
David’s decision to praise the Lord, even in the midst of
his troubles, and even while surrounded by his unlikely 3D army, became a
crucial turning point in his life.
How bad did it get? After the struggles in the cave and the
battles with Saul, things kept getting worse.
David experienced emotions that overwhelmed him, and he
faced great trouble to the point that he wept with sorrow. But when his crying
was done, something mighty happened, 1 Sam 30:6.
When David remembered to praise God, regardless of the
situation, everything began changing.
David was in a desperate place, but David did not focus on
his trouble, instead, he looked at what God could do through it. In other
words, he began praising God in the midst of his trouble, the psalms are filled
with praise and worship, despite his often dire situations.
As we move to the new testament we find the account of the
Apostle Paul (Acts 16:25). Though Paul and Silas were imprisoned unjustly, they
did not look at the circumstance and become defeated, instead they began to
sing praises in the night.
It is easy to praise God when everything is going well. It
is easy to say ‘with His stripes I am healed’ when you are healthy but when
sickness strikes, it is not easy. Psalm 27:5
Seven glorious reasons for you to PRAISE God
1. Praise
is the access you are given into the presence
of God, Psalm 100:4
2. Praises
is where God lives, Psalm 22:3
3. Praise is
an arsenal against the enemies, Psalm 149:6-9
4. Praises
brings protection and preservation, Psalm
59:17
5. Praise is
a God-given garment that drives away the
spirit of heaviness, Isaiah 61:3
6. Praise
brings deliverance, Psalm 50:23
7. Praise
releases God to do battle for you, 2 Chr 20:22.
Recovery begins within you, David concentrated upon God’s
promises rather than making the external problems the central point of his
focus.
Your victory and recovery must begin internally, within your
heart, praise to God must be foundation. All transformation is internal, first
and foremost.
Those who make the choice to celebrate His faithful love,
even when surrounded by disaster and hopelessness are on the road to total
recovery.
When the world forgets you, God does not. He will fulfil His
word in your life. Isaiah 55:11 says it all.
